Somehow, Someway, We'd Have To Say Goodbye - Final California Sunrise

I borrowed the title for this post from a song that has been near and dear to my heart since I was a kid. It's also one of the songs I played with my friend before I made the move out to Idaho from Pittsburgh, PA all those years ago. I also played that song when I said goodbye to the person I left behind when I realized that I had found my voice and where I was going in my life and what to do with myself.

I said goodbye to my sister and her husband on Sunday, August 5th, 2012 in the early hours of the morning and I was quite truly surprised at how upset I was over the fact that I'd only be seeing her during holidays or the occasional break from school. She's started her new life down in California and I couldn't be happier for her. Just like I did, she found her voice and settled into her stride. She'll always be my little sister, but it's truly wonderful to see where she's going in her life and that she's such an amazing person that she'll excel no matter what tasks or challenges she takes on.

During the trip back from San Diego, California, the song above came onto the radio and it was the first time I'd ever heard the song. While the music played, I couldn't help but think about how much it applied to the current situation I was in and how things in life were going to always change no matter what. Sure there are some things that will stay constant, but we can't live in a hyperrealistic state of mind where everything we know in our world doesn't change.

People grow up, people change, people get lives of their own, and people take the next step in their journey. I believe with all of my heart that this is the most important part of growing up and realizing our full potential, and I think it took my leaving Pocatello, Idaho for a few days to realize that it's time I followed my own advice and got ready for the next step in my journey. I'll be forever grateful for the lessons that trip taught me and I'll always keep the memories alive and well in my heart.

Thanks for reading about the trip I took, everyone. May the stars shine brightly on us all!
