Hi there everyone :)
I can't believe that it's been almost a month since I last made a blog post, but there's just been so much going on in my life right now that sometimes it's difficult to keep track of the little things. Now, thankfully, I have a bit more time to get back to my blogging and this one is dedicated to my trip to California, the trip of my dreams. I'm going to split each of the posts about the trip up so I can share as many of the experiences and memories I had with all of you without this turning into a J.K. Rowling-sized novel. There were so many amazing memories made during this trip and I will cherish each of them forever.
Spent most of the first day driving down to California and taking turns alternating with my mom driving down through the Great American West: all the way through Utah, a bit of Arizona, quite a bit of Nevada, and finally down through California to the coast. A little over 900 miles after getting in the car and we reached our destination. I think it's a sign of growing up as a person that the last time I was in a car that long, the drive seemed like forever. But this time, it was nice to just take the time and enjoy the experience of traveling the new path and taking the next step. Below is a map of the route we took :)
Got to San Diego, or rather San Marcos to be specific, at about 10:30pm that night - the perfect amount of time to rest and relax before a new day of adventure and seeing the ocean for the first time. There was nothing more relaxing and satisfying than knowing that we'd finally reached our destination :) Shown below is a picture of the final pit stop of our trip - San Marcos, California.
The next day, we were all up bright and early and looking forward to a spectacular Thursday. Our plan was to take a couple of hours at the beach and then head over to SeaWorld San Diego. Left San Marcos about 8:30 in the morning and got to the beach at about 9:30 that day (we were surprised that it didn't take longer with traffic). Our first stop that morning was Ocean Beach, California - which proved to be a really (and very unexpected) location to our primary stop of the day. Had the most wonderful two hours of my life there seeing the ocean for the first time and just taking in all of the sights, smells, and tastes (yes, I did get a mouthful of saltwater). Below is a picture of (I"m pretty sure) the same beach we visited.
After a couple of hours here playing in the surf, realizing that the waves could in fact knock us down (especially my little sister), collecting sea shells, sand, and (in my case) ocean water, we dried off, got our non-beach clothes on, and headed to my favorite place in the entire world.... SeaWorld!!!!
